According to a report by India Times, on March 13, in an interview with ANI, Ashok Chandak, Chairman of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and SEMI India, stated that with the launch of new domestic semiconductor facilities, India’s chip production capacity is expected to reach 75–80 million units per day by the end of this year or early next year. Ashok Chandak noted that this output will come from multiple semiconductor initiatives, which will begin production in phases. Once these facilities are operational, India’s chip packaging and testing capabilities will expand significantly. While some production will meet domestic demand, a considerable portion is expected to be exported. He emphasized that as these facilities come online, India’s position in the global semiconductor value chain will undergo a transformation.
